Each year in fall, the American Translators Association (ATA) holds a convention somewhere in the United States. Although Melissa and I would participate in the 1997 conference in Hilton Head, SC, I can’t recall why we attended this one: we seldom worked as translators. Perhaps it was because our friend Courtney Searls-Ridge was on the ATA Board. But perhaps it was simply an excuse for a little travel. I have few memories of the trip, myself, so these pictures are good reminders that it even happened.
The nature pictures that conclude this series were probably shot in the arboretum in Seattle upon our return. They’re on the same roll as were the Colorado Springs pictures, so it’s difficult to tell.
