I guess that the reason Washington, DC has become so well known for its cherry blossoms is that it is the capital of the United States. Before I had ever seen the blossoms of DC I lived in and with those of Seattle, Washington. But what makes blossom displays so beautiful is often not just the blossoms but also the settings of those blossoms. In that regard, nearly every location is unique, and the DC area most certainly has some fine backdrops for those lovely flowering trees from Asia.
I lived within a four-mile walk of DC’s Tidal Basin, and one gorgeous Saturday walked over with a friend to see how those trees were doing. You may judge for yourself.
